Why is the government offering free energy saving measures?

The UK government introduced the Energy Company Obligation (ECO4) scheme to tackle fuel poverty, reduce carbon emissions, and improve the energy efficiency of homes, particularly those occupied by low-income and vulnerable households.

Addressing Fuel Poverty and Carbon Emissions:
The ECO4 scheme aims to reduce fuel poverty by helping low-income households afford energy and improve the energy efficiency of their homes. It also contributes to reducing carbon emissions by improving the energy performance of buildings.

Targeting Vulnerable Households:

The scheme focuses on supporting households with low incomes and those receiving certain state benefits, as well as those living in poorly insulated homes.

Funding Energy Efficiency Measures:

The ECO4 scheme provides funding for energy efficiency measures, such as insulation, heating upgrades, and renewable energy installations, to improve the energy performance of homes.

Obligation on Energy Companies:

The scheme places an obligation on energy companies to deliver energy efficiency measures to domestic premises, with funding allocated through the ECO (Energy Company Obligation).

Timeline and Goals:

ECO4 began in April 2022 and is scheduled to run until March 2026, aiming to upgrade around 450,000 homes and improve their energy efficiency ratings.

Net Zero Commitment:

The ECO4 scheme supports the UK government's commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

What measures are the government offering?

Who is eligible?

You can be eligible for an ECO4 grant if you rent or own a home that has an EPC rating of band D or below and are in receipt of benefits such as child benefits, child tax credits, housing benefits, to name but a few.

What are the benefits of ECO4?

People who qualify for the ECO4 scheme can enjoy many benefits in the years to come. Please contact us to find out more about the qualification process. For most people, financial benefits are the biggest reason to aim for ECO4 scheme qualification.

You can save a significant amount on your energy bills by becoming a part of the ECO4 scheme and making your home more comfortable. These grants can cover up to 100% of home improvement costs if approved. However, that is not the only benefit of becoming a part of the ECO4 scheme.

This government-initiated scheme can also improve your property value exponentially and reduce your carbon footprint, leading to better protection of the environment. Hence, you can also enjoy the feeling of being an energy-efficient household and helping nature.
